I hate working out.  Oops!  Let me re-phrase that.  I hated working out until I started going to Game Changer.  It's a really energetic, supportive and fun environment.  Jenn is awesome.  She has a way of making everyone feel welcome. The members are really nice, regular people who are not competitive or intimidating.  

I started coming to Game Changer about 2 months ago with strength training as my goal.  Every week I notice changes: less knee and low back pain, cardio improvement and definitely stronger.  Some of the exercises are getting easier - well, I shouldn't say easier because nothing is really easy - but now I can do certain exercises without struggling and I feel like my technique is getting better which has resulted in greater benefits.  

The workouts are different everyday.  Jenn writes the workout on a chalkboard at the beginning of class.  Something so simple has been so helpful.  It makes the workouts much easier to follow.  She also demonstrates each exercise and provides modifications.  She closely monitors each person during the workouts and quickly corrects us if we aren't doing it properly.

Jenn has created a cool community based on health, fitness and fun.  The name says it all...

I initially bought a Living Social deal, but after meeting Jenn, immediately decided to purchase 3 personal training sessions with her. It had been quite awhile since I had worked out on a regular basis, due to some long-term, low back issues, and I wanted her to help me assess the right program for me.  I'm glad I did. Jenn wisely suggested that I start with the Body Sculpt class with Kathleen.

There are so many things I love about this class.  First of all, Kathleen is just a wonderful person---- very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, caring, and FUN!  She also has great taste in music, (particularly if you like 60's and 70's tunes).  She uses a number of different  routines, so it's never boring, and you always get a total body workout.

The class is comprised of folks of all ages and fitness levels, and Kathleen is adept at suggesting alternate ways of performing an exercise for those of us who have  limitations. Overall, the vibe in the class is relaxed and without judgment, but with focused attention on proper execution.

An added bonus from my perspective is that there is a strong feeling of personal and community support on the part of Jenn and Kahleen, as well as my fellow gym-goers. 
I feel really fortunate to have this gem in my neighborhood!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! 

I bought a living social deal for the one month unlimited boot-camp. This was the best thing that I've ever bought. Jenn is an amazing trainer and her classes are so much fun! My fellow gym-rats were so friendly. I love that the gym has outtings aside from just being at the gym (although I'd love to have the gym at home!). The workouts are different each day and they challenge you!! 

Unfortunately, my one month is over but I will be going back in the future. I've gained so much strength and knowledge about fitness and what works for me.

I love Game Changer Fitness. It's everything I want and need in a gym. It's convenient (close to home means there's no reason I can't make it to my workouts). The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly (not loud and impersonal). The workouts are challenging, effective and ever-changing. And the trainers, Jenn and Kathleen are committed, focused, knowledgeable, encouraging and just plain awesome.

Initially I thought the name, Game Changer, was a bit odd. But it's proved to be a very accurate description of what they do. I've become stronger, more toned and have had to rethink what I considered to be my physical limits. This place rocks!

I really enjoy going to this place! The gym is cool, comfortable,  versatile, and the location is perfect for me. I love that Jennifer keeps the basics of her bootcamps consistent but changes up the combinations of exercises, so we don't get used to any one thing, but still are able to improve and build up a good fitness base. I also simply enjoy the weighted exercise and plyometric moves she chooses. So many times I have been to bootcamp type classes where they combine things 'inappropriately' [such as doing a bicep curl at the BOTTOM of the lunge, instead of the top] .. so annoying.. this won't happen in Jenn's class. You'll be learning new things all the time too! The pacing of the class is spot on, and I love going outside to sprint and do drills. Also, I really enjoy the atmosphere and her clientele. I always feel comfortable there and it's nice to feel supported and as if we all have each other's backs. I started going there with a voucher I found on Living Social, but I am going to keep going because I like it so much! Bravo.! [PS, I am really picky when it comes to trainers, for some reason... and I cannot say enough good things about Jenn. I love her no-nonsense and direct approach, along with her positive and passionate enthusiasm for keeping people moving and sweating!]

Jenn and Kathleen are unfailingly encouraging, focused and cool. When I can't manage the early morning Boot Camp with Jenn, I've been doing Body Sculpt with Kathleen. There is a different set of routines each time, which circumvents boredom, and makes sure you're not always exercising the same muscles in the exact same way.

Here was the "game changer" for me: I really felt my stomach muscles for the first time. I "thought" I had felt them before...un unh. I was thrilled with this. I wasn't concentrating on that area, and I've gone to lots of different gyms and classes over the years but something that Kathleen and Jenn do really get to the point (muscle-y speaking)...it certainly wasn't anything I knew to do differently.

Relaxed atmosphere, friendly members too. (And one of the best office dogs I've ever met. I look forward to seeing her.)

What can I say Jenn ROCKS!!!  I have been doing personal training with her for a while now and have seen some great results where I have struggled in the past.  I love that her workouts are varied and she is always prepared with a new routine each time we meet.  This keeps it interesting for me and keeps me engaged.  I also attend the weekend warrior classes and boot camps and get just as good a workout with those classes as well.  The people that go to the gym really create a good healthy community.  I highly recommend this gym as it is a great experience at any level!

I used to be skeptical of people who said that they didn't like to go a day without exercising, or they had more energy on days that they exercised, or they liked exercising. Yeah right. The short runs that I begrudgingly made myself do two-ish times a week for a while last year didn't give me any of those feelings. 

Then I was persuaded to go to Game Changer and I agreed, on the condition that I only go twice a week and just for a month or two. But when I met Jenn and the amazing community of people who go to Game Changer, I found myself actually having a lot of fun while working out, and seeing great improvements in my flexibility, energy level, and health. I now vary my workouts between before work (6am!) and after work and try to go at least 4 times a week - I have become one of those people who doesn't like to go a day without exercising...!?

The exercises at bootcamp vary for every class so it doesn't get monotonous, and Jenn's enthusiasm for fitness and helping her clients is addictive and inspiring. The workouts are challenging, but only to the extent that you are comfortable (don't be scared off by the term "bootcamp"), and even include some time outside. It's no wonder this has me hooked far more than solitary running ever did and I encourage everyone to at least try the introductory one-week package to see what it's like.

I have never written a Yelp review before but  am motivated to do so now because I want everyone to know what an AMAZING place Game Changer is. First, Jenn (Owner and trainer)  has contagious energy, her outlook is always positive and real, and the personal interest she takes in you makes you feel really cared for. So, that's Jenn's personality, but what she does as a trainer is truly life changing. I hadn't worked out since before I had my first child. During my second pregnancy I developed a physical condition that I thought would prevent me from having a vigorous workout again. Jenn changed that! She modified the exercises we did at the beginning to fit my restrictions and still gave me a fantastic workout. Jenn knows how the body works and is very intuitive about what exercises work best for you. Her workouts are always interesting--you never do the same routine twice. And, I'm amazed to say that in just a short time working with Jenn I'm so much stronger and I feel fantastic!  I cannot recommend Jenn and Game Changer enough!

I just completed my first month at Game Changer Fitness and let me just say I LOVE this place! I started out attending boot camp twice a week, then three times a week, and now I come almost every morning. I feel stronger already! I cannot say enough positive things about how Jenn (the owner/boot camp instructor) operates her business. During the boot camp classes Jenn guides, motivates, and demonstrates (and then re-demonstrates...just in case you weren't paying attention the first time lol) what you will be doing. The people who come are all inviting and work hard (which makes me want to work hard too). I prefer the morning classes because I want to get my workout over and done with ASAP, but I also appreciate that she offers evening classes. I have missed a few mornings and I am thankful that I was able to make up my workout later on in the day. Jenn is also helping me with my nutrition and is just an overall PROFESSIONAL! I have attended other boot camps in Oakland and this is by far the best!

Game Changer is a fantastic gym.  My partner and I have been working out with Jennifer for about a month and are already feeling the difference...fitting in to jeans I have not worn in a year!  She is always changing up our workouts and they are always challenging and fun.  I would highly recommend the gym for excellent personalized fitness and Jennifer's extremely positive attitude.

I go to Game Changer for 6 AM boot camp MWF and "weekend warrior" on Saturday. The workouts are awesome because of the variety and personal attention.  An hour flies by when you're switching the exercise every few minutes or so.  Jenn is a fantastic trainer.  She gets to know you and provides personal feedback even though it's a group setting.  I've also come to know some of the other "regulars"--everyone is very friendly and at different stages of fitness, which gives the gym a welcoming, neighborhood vibe.

This is the first time I've had any exercise (except for running) for about a decade and it's turning into a habit.   Definitely worth it!

Looking for a gym? Look no further, Game Changer Fitness is the best! 

I first started going to the classes before opting for personal training. Both, classes and personal training, are fantastic workouts. Jenn makes sure that staying fit does not become a drag- no two workouts are the same. Rest assure that for every visit you make, you will come out sore. SORE is good. 

Jenn is very friendly and understanding. My schedule as a student and as an employee does not leave me with much time to spare but she has worked around my hectic schedule so that I achieve my fitness goals. 

First class is free, so give it a try. You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain!

Great people, great atmosphere.  I havent worked out in years before I joined and I am feeling great. (a tad sore) I am really glad I found it.  Jenn is a great motivator and most of all makes you feel comfortable right away. Really the hardest part is walking in that first day.  But if you are looking for a place to get in shape this is the place to come.

I love Game Changer Fitness! Jenn is a great trainer that challenges your endurance, speed, strength, balance and core. Her enthusiasm makes it fun and no workout is the same. So I'm never bored. And I can see a difference in me which is very encouraging. 

Jenn actively asks for feedback on her gym and adjusts the things she can to help. For example, after discovering that the evening class schedule wasn't quite working for many of us, she changed the schedule to help us make it to class on time. She also organizes fun events like rock climbing and mud runs.

I should also mention that the classes challenge you mentally. I've realized that sometimes it's my head that's stopping me from completing an exercise like climbing a rope or jumping over a wall. It feels really good when you let that go and just do it. 

I highly recommend Game Changer Fitness. You'll love the workout, Jenn and all the folks that work out with her.

I've got a SECRET so listen up.  I have the Best Personal Trainer in the context of a small group!  The classes are intimate enough so that I can get lots of attention and big enough that I'm motivated by working out with fun people.  I benefit most from lots of pointers from Jenn on how to maximize the movement and not risk injury,  Sometimes it's hard to get up for a 6 a.m. class but once through the Game Changer doors there's no regrets!  So if you're reading these reviews and searching for a gym, you'll have to ask yourself one question:  What obstacle is stopping me from going for results like losing weight, toning muscles, strength training, enhancing cardio, gaining more flexibility, strengthening core, and feeling more alive, energized and happy?  You might be recovering from an injury or accident and want to get moving again. Frankly at 50 with some history of injuries, I've surprised myself in what I can still do even if it means with modifications (for NOW!).  So don't put it off any longer.  Give yourself the chance to work with Jenn and achieve those goals with the best gym money can buy!

I started personal training with Jenn at Game Changer Fitness in October, I was really excited and felt by working out with her I was going to finally lose that last 10 lbs I've had so much trouble with.  I felt completely empowered and could see myself reaching my fitness goals, one of which was to run my 2nd half-marathon in June.  Then in November I was injured in a car accident and couldn't work out for 2 months.  This Friday is going to be my 1st workout back with Jenn and I couldn't be more excited :)

I love this place.  

Currently (as of Feb. 2013), Jenn has all kinds of levels of classes that meet whatever you need--body sculpt, beginner bootcamp, bootcamp, and weekend warrior.  And I love coming to the bootcamp classes.  Jenn always has challenging moves, but she offers options if you want to modify.  The place is so welcoming and warm that I never feel self conscious if I can't do the move she demonstrates.  But I feel supported to try moves I never thought I could do (lower myself on a rope?  pull myself back up?  apparently, I CAN do both of those; I never knew).  This is a place where the most athletic will find a challenge and the fresh-off-the-couch can find encouragement.  

Jenn also works hard to ensure that it is never boring.  In the past month, we haven't done the same workout twice, and more often than not, when I look up at the clock on that (fabulously freshly painted) light grey wall, 45 minutes of those 60 minutes of the workout has already passed.  

Finally, what I love the most at Game Changer is the sheer number of options.  I am not a morning person. At all.  So I needed a bootcamp class in the late afternoons.  Game Changer to the rescue.  However, there are plenty of early morning options for you early risers and 6:30 p.m. classes for you post-work athletes as well.

All in all, the prices are reasonable, the times are convenient, the owner is fantastic, and the space pretty darned fabulous.

Jenn so appropriately named her business Game Changer! I'm going to risk being dramatic here because my results have been dramatic. In the past 6 months, I've lost over 20lbs., but I've gained much more in the way of happiness and physical fitness- in ways I NEVER imagined.
If you want to have fun, sweat, be motivated, go far beyond what your mind tells you is possible then choose Jenn! It's simple (well, not really ....you'll work really hard) and your rewards will be great. I've become an exercise convert and wouldn't have gotten here without Game Changer.

Jennifer was a great personal trainer. I hired her 5 months after having my second child and she worked with me cautiously and attentively. Her workouts were tough but she motivated me a lot. When I first met Jennifer Lynch, I was unmotivated and unhappy with myself.  After working with her for 6 months, I feel better than ever.  I have more energy, I have lost several inches while gaining serious muscle and have gotten to meet an amazing group of people.  She has great energy and really makes you feel like you can accomplish anything, and you will!  Currently we train at all kinds of areas around the East Bay while doing fun group events like the Mud Blast 5k run and Tough Mudder.  Her prices are reasonable, her workouts show results and her attitude is addictive.  I invite anyone to take the Game Changer Fitness challenge... group training or personal training, it is worth it!!!

Awesome gym - They have tons of fun ways to get folks in great shape.  I often get really bored working out.  I'm not the type of person that looks forward to a good workout.  But - I actually do look forward to the boot camp workouts with Jennifer.  They are always a bit different, kick my butt, fun, engaging and leave me feeling super energized.  I'd highly recommend giving this gym a shot.  You'll be very happy you did!

The first time I worked out with Jenn I was scared to death because I hadn't really worked out since High School. In the 6 months that I have worked with Jenn I have participated in my first 5K, which happened to be a mud run to boot, lost 26 pounds and two pants sizes and rediscovered a love for activity. Game Change Fitness should be called Life Change Fitness because that's what it actually does. In the 3.5 months that I've been working out with Jenn I have lost 10lb and 2 1/2 pant sizes and gained and incredible amount of stamina and fitness and I'm only still a beginner. The routines are greatly varied to stave off boredom, plateaus and keep you on your toes.   I cannot recommend this gym, trainer, and other clients enough. I have gone from not being able to jump rope at all, to being able to speed rope for almost 5 minutes and from not being able to run the length of a city block to having finished my first 5k mudrun!!!!

If your looking to make some changes, keep yourself in shape or just make some great friends and get your body moving, this place is right for everyone!!!

Even though I thought I was in good shape it wasn't until I met Jennifer at Game Changer Fitness that I really started to feel a major change in my body for the better.  Jennifer  pushes hard enough to get you out of your comfort zone and of course this is what it takes to make a difference in your workout.  I do personal training and boot camp classes with Jennifer and her style is fun, energetic and very effective.  Every workout is different and she will help you reach your goals.  Whether you need the motivation to get back into shape, or are really info fitness and training for a major event, I highly recommend Game Changer Fitness.  I know through personal experience that Jennifer can help you get the results you desire.

How serious am I about my recommendation for GCF and Jenn? I finally created a Yelp account to lavish praise upon both. 
I joined about 6 months ago, with the intention of taking a 6-week set of classes to kick myself back into gear. I thought I'd learn some new tools to take with me as I retreated back to the solo workouts that had (seemingly) served me well all of these years. 
After 3 weeks, I realized that I was hooked. The workouts, the challenges, and, most importantly, the community have all created an atmosphere were this shy, life-long solitary exerciser turned into a paddleborading, mud-running, size-smaller pants wearing adventurer with a sense of confidence and all around badassery that I never would have foreseen.

My search for the perfect workout has ended. Truth be told I don't like exercising, but if I didn't do it my body would turn to rice pudding. So as long as I have to work out it should go fast, not be boring, and get results, and Jenn and her workouts tick all the boxes and more. She is truly an inspiring trainer, her energy is infectious and she is great at kicking your big ass into gear.  I get a different workout each time without falling into a routine, which creates less boredom, greater motivation, and RESULTS. My legs are so muscular my calves could cut glass.  Hasn't been successful in getting me to actually enjoy working out but I'm addicted to the results.

I have trained with Jennifer as a personal trainer in the past, Let me just say that she is an awesome trainer, who actually LISTENS TO HER CLIENTS. I wrote it in capital, because this was one of the qualities that I wasn't able to find in other trainers that I worked with for many years. Jennifer will push you out of your comfort zone, yet still listen and keep an eye on you to make sure you don't hurt yourself. She offers good nutrition advice which has helped me tremendously thus far. She is also very accommodating and willing to work with you despite any situation you might have. After meeting Jennifer, it was a life change in my fitness level

Do I love getting up at 5:30 AM to workout?  NO.  Does Jenn make it pleasant for me to show up at 6:00 AM for a butt kicking.  YES.  This is a great boot camp - lots of modifications for whatever is ailing you, small class size, TONS of variety - no two workouts are the same.  You always start with a cardio warm up and then 20 or so minutes of a series of exercises that you go through over and over until the time is up.  Then a circuit of 8 exercises that you do two times and then a cool down.  

Lots of equipment used - great instruction and demo by Jenn, as I mentioned modifications are always provided.  Jenn will not make you feel bad for asking for a different way to do something to meet your fitness level or an alternative based on an injury.  I have been to other boot camps where the instructors are obnoxious.  Jenn is pleasant and friendly and will easily make you feel like this place is home.  

Your first class is free, then she offers a one week special.  From there you have other options - more expensive than a gym, but heck, I was spending the money and NOT going to the gym anyway.  At least with GCF I will show up as I feel I am accountable for my attendance since you need to sign up in advance.  Class times are convenient - before and after work.  I enjoy going before work only because it gets it out of the way and after work too many things can get in my way of making it there on time.  

You should check it out, I don't think you will regret it (although you will be sore for a couple of days after your first class, but that gets better with time).

This gym should really be called Life Changer Fitness. 
Jenn at Game Changer Fitness gives you the tools you need to be successful. She is always positive, and goes so far as to personally check in on you if you miss a class (or two).  She makes you feel good about the little victories, and pushes you to work even harder. The small group atmosphere doesn't allow you to hide, but is big enough where you don't feel like you stand out. Jenn fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and everyone in each class is cheering for one another constantly.
This gym isn't about gimmicks or fads, it is about hard work and dedication to a goal.
Let Jenn and her team help you the way they have helped me to maintain a 30 pound post baby weight loss.

Love Jennifer!  She is fun and tough all at the same time.  She makes working out and training easy to do with her positive attitude and amazing gym.  I would recommend Jennifer to anyone who wants to build stamina and fitness.  It is addictive.

The fitness business is evolving so rapidly, it's hard to keep up.  Jennifer and the Game Changer Fitness team seem to be setting the pace.  The workouts are extremely dynamic and challenging for any level of expertise.  

Here's the real deal though,
The key to success in the fitness business is very simple...LOVE WHAT YOU DO.  Jennifer will accomodate any financial situation, physical restriction or time constraint.  The client truly motivates her as much as she motivates you.  It's something that needs to be experienced.
